Hello, my name is Anna Bateh, and I am a recent graduate of Auburn University, where I earned my degree in Professional and Public Writing with minors in Business and Political Science. My work centers on developing clear, engaging content that serves real people in real situations. Across my time in the Professional and Public Writing major, I have come to understand writing not just as a skill, but as a tool for service. At the core of my writing is one guiding question: how can this serve others? This question has shaped every project I have created. Rather than focusing only on what I want to say, I focus on what my audience needs to understand. Writing, for me, is about making information accessible, meaningful, and useful.

One of the most impactful projects I have created directly reflects this idea. I developed a piece centered around my sister’s feeding tube, a topic that is both personal and complex. Medical information can often feel overwhelming, especially for families navigating unfamiliar situations. Through this project, I worked to present that information in a clear, compassionate, and easy-to-understand way. This experience reinforced my belief that writing has the power to support others, particularly when it is grounded in empathy and strong audience awareness.

This focus on service is also reflected in many of my projects centered around Auburn students and the university community. Much of my work is designed to inform, support, or connect with students by addressing shared experiences and needs. Whether through podcasts, field narratives, or visual projects, I consistently consider how my work can contribute to a larger community. These projects demonstrate my ability to analyze audiences and adapt my writing to meet them where they are.

Throughout my coursework, I have developed the ability to take complex ideas and translate them into real-world understanding. In my podcast project, for example, I focused on creating content that was both informative and conversational. This required intentional decisions about tone, pacing, and structure to reach a broader audience. Similarly, my field narrative allowed me to combine research with storytelling, emphasizing both credibility and human connection. These experiences have strengthened my ability to apply rhetorical concepts in practical, meaningful ways.

In addition to written work, I have also explored visual communication through projects such as my magazine cover. This expanded my understanding of writing beyond text and emphasized the importance of design in shaping how messages are received. As a result, I have developed a more well-rounded approach to communication that considers both content and presentation.

My involvement on campus has also played a significant role in shaping my identity as a writer. Through leadership roles in Pi Lambda Sigma, the College of Liberal Arts Student Council, and Alpha Delta Pi, I have used writing as a tool for organization, collaboration, and leadership. These experiences have shown me that writing extends far beyond the classroom and is essential in professional and team-based environments. While my professional experience with Fellowship Vacations has strengthened my ability to communicate in a fast-paced, detail-oriented setting, the foundation of my growth as a writer comes from my work within the Professional and Public Writing major. My academic experiences have taught me how to approach writing strategically, with a strong emphasis on audience, purpose, and clarity.

Ultimately, I am a writer who is intentional, adaptable, and focused on service. I strive to create work that is not only clear and engaging but also meaningful and useful to the people it is intended to reach. This portfolio reflects both my development as a writer and my commitment to using writing as a way to connect with others and make information more accessible.
